1. Open Pomegranate, by Kamille Saabre
The pomegranate painting contains heavy and thin lines, along with the different textures of the pulpy, firmer seeds and the more fabric-like surface of the outside. It also uses form and cast shadows. I think the different shades of red and black make it very vivid. I will also try to vary the dark and light like in this painting. 2. New Leaf, by Elaine Clayton This image has broad brush strokes and also finer detailing with shadows on the undersides of leaves and flowers. It has the light source coming from the center, seemingly outside of the surface of the water. I think the various blotches of color –– purple, blue, yellow, green etc –– and the contrasting, dynamic twirls of leaves make it look very aesthetic. I'll also try to fade the colors smoothly. 3. Inside-outside, by Maria Teresa Crawford Cabral Cabral's painting expresses feelings of separation, bereavement, anxiety, and loneliness, with blocky strokes and a surprisingly minimal palette. However, in the few colors that Cabral uses, a range of finely tuned values come into play. Color she uses sparingly and economically, which is why it's so interesting and manages to portray the emotions that it does. I will also try to incorporate this level of detail.
